Lazy 419'ers

A number of visitors to this site can't tell the difference between record pages from our spam-advertised domains database and the actual website of the company in question (yes, I know, I don't understand it either). This means that we get a certain amount of misdirected mail, often from Very Angry People.

The latest example, however, is a little different. The sender apparently came across our page about the heavily-spamvertized website of one Mr John Cummuta, who is some kind of get-rich-quick guru (incidentally, while I generally view get-rich-quick gurus of this kind as pieces of human slime, fairness requires me to state that it's possible that Mr Cummuta and his organization are not actually responsible for the spam, which seems to mostly originate from a couple of affiliate spam specialists). Apparently, despite the large banner reading 'spamnation', the sender — whose name appears to be either 'Fancy Emmanuel' or 'Friday Makwana' — decided that he had landed on Mr Cummuta's website, and used the contact form to send us the following message:

JOHN CUMMUTA,

HELP PAY MY FEES

I have taken pains and time to study your integrity mode of writing off bad debts on the masses. Therefore, I see in you one ripe for my growth in life. Please, help me to pay off my school fees which are just between me and my schooling at the Univeristy of Bedfordshire.

Enclosd are the proven papers of admission. The fees being Four Thousand Pounds. I can be reached all time on mobile phone which is (redacted) and e-mail address is (redacted).

Your “integrity mode of writing off bad debts on the masses”? Ouch! That's not nice.

As a tactic, however, it's an interesting development. Why bother stringing people along with some far-fetched story about dead generals and hidden wealth? Why not just find someone who you think is a rich man and hit them straight out with a demand for money?

Sadly for Fancy/Friday, he got the wrong website. Unlike Mr Cummuta, I don't have four thousand pounds sterling to give away just because some stranger asks me for it. Better luck next time.
