Domain Listing Center

'Domain Listing Center' send out 'faux-invoices' - messages that are deliberately made to look like invoices - to the administrative contact addresses for existing domains. The messages contain the obligatory disclaimer:

THIS IS NOT A BlLL. This is a solicitation. You are under no obIigation to pay the amount(s) stated ...

so that the spammers can pretend that they had no intention of misleading people and that they are shocked, just shocked that anyone might have mistakenly thought that their message was an invoice. The fact that it is drawn up to look like an invoice, including dollar figures and 'description of services' and with FINAL NOTICE written in larger text across the top is quite irrelevant.

It's fairly clear that the intention is to trick domain owners into paying the amount requested under the impression that it is a renewal invoice. In fact, it's a fairly anodyne (and overpriced) SEO package.

No domain name is cited in the spams (which is why they are represented in this database by a '.invalid' placeholder). The listed physical address is:

'DOMAIN', incidentally, is spelt with a lowercase 'l' in place of the 'I', proving that they've been doing this long enough that they have to try to work around spam filters.
